About Us
The Steinbeis Transfer Centre for Data Analytics and Predictive Modelling is a company within the Steinbeis network, specialising in applied artificial intelligence. We research, consult and develop around AI methods — from classical forecasting models and machine learning to generative AI and large language models.
The two directors, Prof. Dr. Dirk Schieborn and Prof. Dr. Volker Reichenberger, have been intensively engaged in research and industrial implementation of data analytics and forecasting methods in various industries for over twenty years, particularly in finance and banking as well as the automotive industry.
Team
Dirk Schieborn is Professor of Artificial Intelligence, Mathematics and Data Science at Reutlingen University, where he serves as Dean of Studies for the International Industrial Engineering – Operations degree programme.
He studied Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Tübingen and the Australian National University in Canberra, where he also completed his doctorate. From 2008 to 2016, he worked as Senior Manager at Ernst & Young.
Since 2017, he has headed the Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics Hub at msg for banking ag. His focus is on AI projects in banking — from generative AI and large language models to classical methods in quantitative risk management, including IRBA rating models and IFRS 9 models.
Within the Steinbeis Transfer Centre, he extends these activities across industries. His research interests focus particularly on the explainability of AI systems and the practical use of generative AI.
He is also an in-demand speaker on AI topics — at specialist conferences, in companies and in academic continuing education. Further information at schieborn.de.
Volker Reichenberger is Professor of Data Science, Machine Learning and Computer Science at Reutlingen University, where he serves as Dean of Studies for the Master's programme in Operations Management.
He studied Mathematics, Computer Science and Computational Linguistics in Stuttgart and Heidelberg, and completed his doctorate at the Interdisciplinary Centre for Scientific Computing at Heidelberg University. He subsequently worked at Ernst & Young in quantitative risk management, where he developed and validated rating models and priced complex financial and energy derivatives.
His research field lies in data-driven modelling — long before the term Data Science was established for it. He combines methods from machine learning, statistics and computer science to develop practically applicable AI solutions for companies across various industries.
Volker is also an active speaker on AI topics and designs training and continuing education formats for specialist and management staff.
